AI is all around us and it may not be too far from now that we see the first robots available for commercial use hit the market. Are they friend or are they foe? That’s a question many are asking. In this blog we’d like to take the most optimistic view of our new companions. Next week, ThinkFives will share our list of robots gone wrong.
From the silver screen to Saturday morning cartoons, pop culture has introduced us to a wide range of robot personalities — some hilarious, some heartwarming, and all unforgettable. According to a ThinkFives teacher survey, here are the top five robots you’d actually want to hang out with. Yes, even Bender (sort of).
Bender (Futurama)
Okay, “friendly” might be a stretch here—but hear us out. Bender’s got attitude, sarcasm, and a penchant for bending more than just metal. Still, beneath that shiny, self-serving surface is a loyal (if unpredictable) friend who brings nonstop laughs to the Planet Express crew.
Rosie (The Jetsons)
Rosie is the blueprint for the perfect domestic bot. She vacuums, wisecracks, and keeps the Jetsons running smoother than their flying car. More than just a housekeeper, Rosie is basically part of the family—and definitely the sassiest member.
Data (Star Trek: The Next Generation)
What he lacks in emotions, he makes up for in heart. Data’s endless curiosity about being human makes him incredibly relatable, even if he’s technically not one of us. He’s the friend who’ll analyze your feelings… and then save your starship.
WALL-E (WALL-E)
At first glance, he’s just a lonely trash compactor. But give him a chance, and you’ll find one of the most lovable characters in robot history. WALL-E shows us that even in a world covered in garbage, kindness (and a little romance) can still shine through.
R2-D2 & C-3PO (Star Wars)
You can’t have one without the other. R2-D2 is the fearless doer, C-3PO the nervous translator—and together they make the galaxy’s most iconic droid duo. Their loyalty, bravery, and comic timing are second to none. Honestly, we’d trust them more than most humans.
