The Survey Says

Movies create enduring memories and become part of the cultural fabric of our society. So much so, that many lines from movies can be quoted and recognized immediately.

For this post, we’re going to do something a little differently. We’re going to list the Top 5 all-time movie quotes from Tinseltown Classics. And then, we’re also going to list the Top 5 movie quotes from our survey of elementary school teachers.

The twist: we’re just going to give you the quote and a hint and you will have to guess the movie. You can check your answers with the link on the bottom of this page.

Top 5 Classic Movie Quotes

“May the force be with you.”
This 70’s classic broke box office records when it was released. It launched a series of movies that almost everyone would recognize.

“Here’s looking at you kid.”
He was suave. She was beautiful. And they were caught in a timeless romantic dilemma. Need we say more?

“Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
Nope, there is no hint necessary for this one.

“I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.”
Another 70’s classic, this movie won many awards and provided this classic quote that has been in our lexicon for nearly half a century.

“Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn.”
It’s a line that draws applause anytime this moment is shown. Its legacy endures nearly 80 years later.

Top 5 Famous Quotes as Voted by Teachers

ESGI and ThinkFives also polled our elementary teachers to ask them what was their most memorable quote. Check out this list and see if you can guess the movies.

“Go ahead, make my day.”
It’s hard to detach the actor from the character but this classic 80’s sequel recognized him as the ultimate tough guy.

“I’ll  be back.”
While some may forget the movie this line is from, when you hear the voice impression retelling it, it immediately becomes apparent who said it and which movie it came from.

“Just keep swimming.”
A more lighthearted choice from our respondents, this is one of the newer quotes on the list. Playful, funny and wet?

“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
Coming in at #2 on our teacher list, this 90’s box office smash provided one of film’s most lovable and memorable characters. 

“Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”
This is certainly a surprise #1.  A 1987 release, perhaps its message of self-expression resonates with teachers.  Or maybe it’s the romantic coupling?
